Frequently Asked Questions

I have a question about appointments…

  • Every client is required to submit a form expressing their interest in the service and a description of their goals and presenting concern to assure that this is the right service for you.

A time will then be arranged to talk to Emma on the phone for a free 15 minute free consultation where the client can ask any questions and an initial intake session can be booked.

Subsequent appointments can be arranged at the end of your previous appointment.

Clients are encourgaed to book the same appointment time in advance to avoid missing out.

  • The length of the waitlist depends on the popularity of the client’s time preference. Telehealth waitlists are shorter if someone would prefer to be seen sooner.

Generally, clients can expect to be seen within the month. This is liable to change.

  • Emma has a 48 hour cancellation or rescheduling policy.

Please email Emma as soon as you believe a change to your appointment time is necessary to avoid any fees.

Any cancellations within 48 hours are liable to pay 75% of the appointment fee.

Rescheduling within 48 hours will result in a 50% charge of the appointment fee.

A non-attendance fee totalling 100% of the appointment cost will be charged if a client(s) does not attend without notice or is over 30 minutes late.

Changes from in-person to telehealth appointments due to illness can be accepted up to 1 hour prior to your appointment.

Appointments can also be transferred to telephone appointments if there are technical difficulties.

  • This depends on the complexity of the concern, the amount of work being completed by the client(s) between sessions, and the emotional readiness of the client(s) to progress. Going too quickly in any form of therapy can be harmful.

Ultimately, the client is in charge of the pacing and how many sessions they access.

Genuine and lasting change may come after the first session, or after ten.

Broadly speaking, clients benefit from having weekly sessions for 10 weeks. This allows for them to go through a concentrated journey of change throughout their life.

  • Congratulations on making the first step in your journey!

Now is the time to check in with yourself and bring some awareness to your ‘why’. What is your motivation? What are your hopes? What do you want to learn? Everything will be explored in session, but getting motivated and cultivating precious hope and excitement does wonders in helping the journey along.

Nerves are very normal before a first session. The initial one will be focused on information gathering and getting to know each other. It can be an emotionally taxing experience for some people, so blocking out time afterwards for self-care is a wonderful way to honour that. We recommend avoiding any strenuous tasks or commitments for at least an hour after your first session.

When booking your appointment you will receive an email asking you to set up a Halaxy profile. This will be the platform used to check your appointments and keep track of your invoices and any paperwork.

You will also be sent an intake form to fill out alongside your invoice. Please assure you have filled out the form and paid the invoice at least 24 hours prior to your session.

All that is left is to make sure you have the address. Please arrive 10 minutes early and wait in the designated area.

It is common for couples to have different motivations for entering couples therapy and differing levels of emotional investment in the process. The important thing is that everyone shows up consistently. If that time commitment can be made, then the rest will follow.

Please have this discussion and make sure you are committed to the journey.

In couples therapy, the couple itself is the client, not the individuals who make up the couple. Every party should feel they have an equal voice and are jointly entering this journey. Both people should be present for the 15 minute consultation and decide if Emma is a good fit for them as a couple, not as an individual.

All correspondence will be directed to both parties and if one person cannot make an appointment than it is rescheduled. The one exception is when Emma feels it is therapeutically beneficial to have a 1:1 session with each person separately.

Finally, please know that nerves are very normal before a first session. The initial one will be focused on information gathering and getting to know each other. It can be an emotionally taxing experience for some people, so blocking out time afterwards for connection and a debrief or self-care is a wonderful way to honour that. I have a question about the pricing…

  • Psychotherapy and sexology are not covered by Medicare, and have limited coverage through private health insurance. Our governing bodies are fighting for recognition and we hope to see changes in the coming years.

  • Low-cost prices are available for disadvantaged individuals who have recently left violent homes, are at risk of homelessness, or are severely financially stressed. Spaces are limited to two clients a week at designated time-blocks. Please be considerate of other client’s needs for this service when you consider applying. If you need this service please contact Emma to explain your situation.

  • Upon booking a session you will be sent an invoice that is expected to be paid in full before your session. This can be done via direct bank transfer or through Halaxy directly.

  • At this point we do not offer payment plans or discounts.

If you are struggling to pay the set rates then sessions can be extended to fortnightly or monthly.

I have a question about the location…

  • Appointments are available at Richmond on Mondays and Fridays and Moorabbin on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays.

    Moorabbin:

    24 Station St, Moorabbin 3189.

The clinical rooms are located at the back of Southern Yoga and Health Centre. Please enter through the front of the building on Station St.

Emma Vasey is not connected to the yoga business and operates as a seperate entity. However, you are welcome to enjoy the hospitality of their waiting rooms prior to your appointment.

    Richmond:

    620 Bridge Road, Richmond 3121.

Clients are asked to please wait outdoors until their appointment time, upon which your practitioner will meet you at the door.

  • Unfortunately our location is not accessible for wheelchair users or people with mobility aids.

The clinical rooms at Moorabbin and Richmond are located at the top of a flight of stairs.

We are currently looking for a tertiary location that is more accessible.

  • Moorabbin

    Public Transport:

Our rooms are located directly across from Moorabbin train station on the Frankston line.

There are multiple bus lines that have a stop nearby including the 811, 812, 627, 825, & 823.

    Car:

There are car parks available in the train station car park, alongside the local Woolworths nearby. Limited street parking is also available, please pay attention to street signs.

    Richmond

    Public Transport:

The tram routes 75 and 48 both run along that road, and it is a 1.1km walk from Burnley Station.

    Car:

All-day parking is available in the nearby Palmer St, Jones Place, and River St, or two-hour parking available on Bridge Rd outside of clearway hours.
